Do you know the saying “Hard cases make for bad laws”?
I’ve been thinking about what you said. It is obviously your reality and I am not going to tell you it’s not real. You are living it. But it’s hard to reconcile with my reality that I have been living, which is just as real to me.
I really do want to ask, are the people you see even capable of the sort of predatory behavior needed for rape? Yes they are violent and attacking people around them. And I will take your word that they are not themselves. And maybe this does happen, the times when there is a violent rape. But the sort of violent rape that comes to mind when I am thinking about what you said, is largely myth. Most rape comes with the sort of total control over the situation, planning and intent I can’t quite connect to your words. That sort of prolonged manipulation and pressure of the victim seems outside of the ability of abusers going through a crisis.
Could this be a case of both examples-substance abuse bringing out personality and changing personality- being real?
