Hey, thanks for responding.
I am going to agree with you that ‘shame’ is a nasty, loaded word. I’ve pretty much thrown it out as a profanity. Also with a frustration that these types should be ashamed of themselves and are not. Having had a little time to think more about what I was feeling, I don’t really want to bring more Shame into this world. Shame has been used for ages to keep women under control. I do not really believe turning the tables would help, but my story was written while I was pretty damned pissed (not at the woman who wrote the original story, just at the concept) and venting like this certainly made me feel better :)
‘expose’ would fit better. But doesn’t carry that same satisfaction to write out.
One thing I am not worrying about is angering these type of men. If you speak up they will be angry. If you ignore them they will be angry. If you’re politely responding but it’s not what they want to hear they will be angry. Anger and lust are the only emotions they are allowed (by society, or their peers or themselves), and they will express them every opportunity they get. It’s just a given we’ll have to deal with that.
What I do care about is the shit women will have to endure and what, if anything, can be done to make that stop. Or at least lessen it.
