Homepage User Guide
Because if you did sacrifice your latte, I want to be sure you get your money’s worth
Yeah, I’m still not down with the ‘halo’ thing. Greenies was what we called people in our friends list in the chatroom I used a lot. Those people would show up in green in the list of people chatting. I’ve dusted off the term, and it now means Medium users I follow and/or are following me, who have paid membership. Green circle = greenie, because if you have a Medium profile, you’re a member in my book. My own term, feel free to use or scuff at it as you wish.
I am sure you have figured this out by now on your own, but just in case you’ve been really busy, or are not one to randomly click on anything that looks vaguely clickable, I wanted to point this out.
What you see on your new shiny homepage, are previews. You can navigate to the section page, to get even more up to date stories from that section.
And once you are on the section page, you can customize what you will find here in the future.
As you can see, a few hours after my morning edition came out, none of the stories featured in the “New from people you follow” section were on top of the section page. Because in those few hours, the people I follow published new stories.
It works the same way with every other header. Including the customization option.
I still think the header on the main page could be a little more clear on being a navigation link. You could, of course, scroll all the way down to get to this page in the navigation bar. But sometimes, you just want to get straight to the reading. Even an hour or so after your Morning/Afternoon/evening edition came out.
