My dear friend Nouri.

A little bundle of dynamite. She was a decade older than me. I was over ten centimeters taller than her. She was dark with wild hair and so light on her feet. And there’s me; pale, sleek hair and kind of clumsy still getting used to my adult body. As different as could be, somehow, we clicked.

My dearest memory is of a road trip, we were in the huge pickup she borrowed from her boyfriend. It was in the middle of summer and for whatever reason we started singing “Jingle bells” at full volume.

She would hit the horn briefly twice after each line.

Until the car in front suddenly pulled over on the side of the road and we realized the driver must have thought we were trying to signal him. We started laughing loudly and care free, waving and yelling “HIIII” as we passed the throughly confused man.

We kept laughing about that for over an hour.

Succumbed to leukemia today.

Even though our paths diverged, I have never forgotten and I never will.

Writer of fiction, blogs and erotica. Frequency in that order. Popularity in reverse.
