Have you ever been a boy?

Have you ever been on the receiving end of the behaviour girls exhibit when they have a crush on you?

Yes, actually. Very “single white female” in my case. Anything I got, she’d convince her parents to get as well. Same clothes, same haircut, same toys. Being constantly copied in everything is kind of annoying.

You don’t get deep and meaningful conversation

We either grew up in very different environments or you’re not keeping in mind what deep and meaningful is to a kid. I had plenty of what we considered to be meaningful conversations at the time, with both boys and girls.

… being mean to you … running up to you and hitting or kicking you, before stealing your stuff and running away with it.

Ha. Yes. This happens a lot. It’s the standard response when you mention a boy’s been bullying you “Oh that just means he likes you”

And, furthermore, if you’re a boy, other boys don’t make fun of you … aren’t mean to you … don’t hit/kick you and run off with your stuff … because they like you.

I’ve heard some anecdotes to the contrary.

I had it, so to speak, not merely relatively easy but was … albeit grudgingly … through gritted teeth … looked up to … envied … even openly admired.

So you were kind of a lonely kid, huh? I mean, plenty of your peers who would want to hang out, but not really any you could connect with?

Writer of fiction, blogs and erotica. Frequency in that order. Popularity in reverse.
