Out of interest, which accents do you find pleasant and why?
The slightly sinister sounding ones. I wouldn’t know where exactly it comes from, or even if it’s a real accent —the sort of thing you hear from people like Stephen Fry, Ian McKellen or Patrick Stewart.
I’m aware it could more about the quality of the voice, but I’d take any of those I’d mention over, say, Morgan Freeman or James Earl Jones
Hah. I just noticed the racial divide after I wrote it out like that. You can make of that what you will. It’s just that when I think “famous good american voices” they all happen to be black. As for the British all being white, I would have mentioned Idris Elba, but I heard him talk naturally and his accent just isn’t what I think of as particularly pleasant. Good quality voice though.
