Writing stuff like this out in a public forum probably feel much less demanding of people as well. Everyone is free to choose to scroll past or stop reading at any point, without ever having to worry about seeming rude to you. I don’t see how people think unloading on a few individuals is the better option when the path you’ve chosen is the one with the least obligation to the caregivers. Maybe because it is still less common. To me it seems the kindest to everyone.
Or maybe it’s this culture of oppressive happiness I’ve read about in action. By admitting you are not happy at the moment you’re breaking some sort of unwritten social rule. People have no script to respond to unhappiness and that in turn makes them uncomfortable and resentful.
