You remind me of this scene — I’ve forgotten the context, movie, actors…But the scene is clear in my mind…
(Disclaimer, I seem to remember scenes of movies and/or television shows that don’t actually exist. But I remember them with so much detail, it starts to feel familiar to other people as well. I’m not sure why, might be a story teller thing. Just so you know, I’ve driven people crazy with this sort of thing, so no need to try to figure out where I remember this from)
…A heart broken man, his friend tells him everyone’s favorite cliche: “It’s better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all.”
The heart broken man has the best comeback ever invented. A pained, annoyed look and just the words: “Try it.”
That’s the end of the discussion. Unless you’re going through it, you don’t know. Even if you been through it before, you don’t really remember the intensity. Kinda like childbirth, actually. A lot of women still want another baby. And a lot of people still want another romance. We just…sort of forget.
I don’t think you should apologize to anyone that you haven’t forgotten yet.
